The technology we are using goes by the acronym TLC, derived from Total Laundry Control - a sophisticated integration of several technologies including SMS, email, the web, on-line payment providers, POS hardware and digital lockers.
TLC, developed by ForTotalRecall Pty Ltd, is extremely secure. In most implementations, all customer data that could be of value to some Internet low-life is secured by effectively not being kept on the Internet in the first place in any conventional way. All customer financial data (e.g. credit card details) are secured by all on-line payments being made at arms length from TLC via world leading on-line payment providers - no TLC module ever asks for, or is told about, customer financial data - aside from the fact a payment has been made and the amount.
TLC has been designed since its inception to be massively flexible - all control parameters are table driven and are easy to change. At the network topology level TLC can be configured in numerous ways, including:
a standalone single workstation system where data resides on the PC (e.g. a single shop front).
a LAN based multi-workstation system for larger contained environments where data resides on a local network attached storage device (e.g. a larger processing plant with multiple workstations but no external data access requirements).
a cloud based multi-workstation system for larger distributed environments where data resides on a cloud storage service such as Amazon S3 (e.g. multiple larger processing plants with multiple workstations with/ without external mobile data access requirements such as real time delivery updates).
a hybrid LAN/cloud based multi-workstation system for larger primarily contained environments where data resides on a local server but can be accessed remotely via the cloud (e.g. a single larger processing plant with multiple workstations with external mobile data access requirements such as real time delivery updates). This type of configuration can offer significant data security and performance advantages in a suitable environment.
A hybrid LAN/cloud implementation has been instituted at my 24-7 laundry.
